Intrigued by Hedi Kyle's Fishbone Fold and the photographic wordplay of Erica Baum, I set out to explore ideas of overlapping and colliding: an affair of language. I created six poems from words found in order in these dictionary entries: meet, opposition, collision, violent, direct, and oppose. On the reverse side of the book I rearranged and shifted the lines of hand-set type to create six new poems. The slipcase presented a new challenge since the book can only safely slide one way, and so it is open-ended, perhaps like the poems themselves.
